Julia runs Master Classes in stitched textiles with Tracy A. Franklin through their joint venture These classes are held in Studios 2 and 3 in Fowler’s Yard, Durham, and are also available by distance learning.
The Master Classes offer further study and individual development for students who have achieved a level 3 qualification, or have the equivalent relevant experience in stitch and/or textiles. This course is a progressive, modular programme, and is taught over 7 sessions throughout the year. It is currently a three-stage programme. The course will introduce you to set briefs which you interpret in an individual way, through research, practical outcomes, and a collaborative project based on a theme.
Aims The aims of the Master Class are as follows:
- to develop your creative skills in observation and practice
- to leave your comfort zone and make new discoveries, breaking through boundaries to stimulate your creativity
- to investigate materials and media in a personal way, and for you to realise your individual style
- to contextualise your work, developing your professional practice in the textile world
